ACTIVITY DETAILS
LITERARY WEEK CELEBRATION

This Activity was conducted by English Department for a week in the beginning of
July. This included competitions like Elocution, Debating, Speeches and Creative
Writing competition in English for All classes.




FRENCH DAY CELEBRATION

This Activity was conducted by French Department during July 2nd week. This activity was held to create an awareness of France’s struggle for independence. Students
showed a PowerPoint presentation on the culture of France. There was a whole school mask making competition and drawing competition on French Architecture.




ELECTION FOR STUDENT GOVERNING BODY

This school believes in students’ participation in choosing their leaders. The sports department and the teaching faculty under the guidance of the principal held election for Head Girl, Head Boy and various student council positions. Houses were formed and prefects were elected.

TEACHING BY FOREIGN INTERNS Graduate students from Egypt, China and Germany interned at Happy Valley School. They taught students from Grade 6 to Grade 9, on various topics like culture of their respective countries, food habits and Languages.

POWER POINT PRESENTATION COMPETITION

The School held an inter-house PowerPoint presentation competition for students from Grade 8 to 10. The students presented their views on the contemporary issue of global warming and sustainable development through PowerPoint presentations.

SPEECH COMPETITION ON LATE APJ ABDUL KALAM AND RABINDRANATH TAGORE The school held the speech competition for students from grade 7 to grade 10 on the views of LATE APJ ABDUL KALAM. Students from grade 4 to grade 6 had a competition on RABINDRANATH TAGORE’S Poem recitation. This Activity was carried out to foster the spirit of Independence.
CRAFT BAZAAR

The students from grade 4 to grade 10 were encouraged to experiment with their entrepreneurial skill by making Handmade gifts like Envelopes, Greeting cards and diyas. The students
were encouraged to sell these products to the parents visiting the campus. This taught them about marketing and pricing of goods in the market.

INDEPENDENCE DAY CELEBRATIONS

Students organized pre-independence day celebration on August 14th followed by independence day celebrations on 15th of August. Flag Hoisting was followed by Prize distribution for different competitions


INVESTITURE CEREMONY

The newly elected student body members were inducted through an investiture ceremony on 15th of August. Badges, positions and responsibilities were distributed among house masters and house captains and vice-captains.

MATHS WEEK CELEBRATIONS

The maths week celebration took place between August 24th to August 29th. The objective of these celebrations was to drive home the fact that maths is all around us. Students from grade 4 to grade 10 participated in different activities like pattern making, Sudoku, treasure hunt and maths Quiz. This activities tested the application skills of students.




TEACHERS DAY CELEBRATION

The students organized teachers day celebration on 5th September. The celebration included throw ball between students and teachers and cultural events through out the day. It ended with a special dinner for the teachers provided by the students.


SNAKE & LADDER GAME

The School organized an inter-house Snake & Ladder Game with the students being the pawn on the board. They enjoyed being bitten by snakes and climbing ladders.

DANCE COMPETITION

Inter house dance competition was held on 2nd week of September. The students of different classes danced for different genre of music. The competition was judged by a popular dance master.

GANESH CHATHURTHI CELEBRATIONS

The students performed a classical dance on the eve of Ganesh Chaturthi, describing the wit of lord Ganesha.


DESIGN FOR CHANGE

The school participated in “design for change competition” held by Riverside school, Ahmedabad. As part of this project the school students from grade 6 to grade 10 held English classes for their peers in Local Govt schools. This project was carried out for a period of 2 months. Through this project the students learnt that sharing is a joy in itself. They recorded they project and submitted it to the organizer.


GANDHI JAYANTHI CELEBRATION

The school celebrated Gandhi Jayanthi with pomp and galore. The celebration included cultural performances by students, quiz competition, cleaning of classrooms and hostels (as part swachh bharath). They distributed sweets to house keeping and kitchen staff followed by cricket match between staff and students.

URBAN SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT PROJECT

The school participated in “The urban sustainable development project” held by Edu yatra group. Few students were selected and sent to Singapore and were trained on eco friendly model of development (based on Singapore’s model). The objective was
to emphasise that sustainable development was the need of the hour. The students are implementing these ideas in school to obtain a green building certification.




MARATHON

On the birthday of Vallabhbhai Patel (oct-31st) the students participated in a marathon to signify the spirit of unity.

HV MUN

The school hosted a model united nations (MUN) on Oct 30 and 31st. Students simulated the functioning of united nations. Students from all grades were trained to participate in this event to improve their public speaking skill of students. The juniors (Grade 4 to 6) represented as delegates of UNICEF (a body of UN) and debated on “LACK OF SPACE FOR CHILDREN TO PLAY”. The seniors (Grade 7 to 10) represented as delegates of UNICEF and WHO debating on ” PLASTIC DEBRIS IN DRINKING WATER AND DIGITAL RIGHTS FOR CHILDREN”.



 
HALLOWEEN CELEBRATIONS

The Halloween Celebrations were organized by Grade 10 & 9 Students for the rest of the school. The celebration proved to be a good way of un-winding by the students.
The students came in different costumes and enjoyed themselves.

CHILDRENS DAY CELEBRATIONS

The Management & teachers of HVS organized childrens day celebration in school. This included competitions for students and cultural programmes by the teachers. The children received momentos from the school.


MOON LIGHT DINNER (KARTHIKA POURNAMI)

As part of the Diwali Celebrations & Karthik Pournami school had organised Moon light dinner for all the members present. The students lighted the lamps and had dinner with the staff members under the open sky.

CHORAL SINGING EVENT

Choral singing to place of December 5 at the newly built school Auditorium. The entire student body participated in the event. Each class sung songs from different English Albums. Parents were also invited.


   
DONATIONS ON THE EVE OF CHRISTMAS

The students had collected funds by running a lemonade shop during the Choral Singing Event. Along with the managements contribution and their collected funds, they donated their money for a charitable cause.

CHRISTMAS CELEBRATIONS

Christmas celebration took place on Christmas Eve. The students set up a Crib and acted out the nativity scene along with an english play.



 
HAAILAND VISIT

The students of all classes were taken for a visit to Hailand Theme Park. They spent the whole day enjoying different rides.



 
MATHEMATICS DAY

Mathematics day was celebrated on 22 December by the Mathematics department. Inter house quiz competition was held to test the application skills of the students.

RANGOLI COMPLETITION

The school held Inter-House Rangoli Competition on the Eve of New Year. Students from all classes participated and displayed their skills.

NEW YEAR CELEBRATIONS

New year celebration took place on the eve of January 1. The students showcased their musical and dance talents and followed by a cake cutting at midnight.

PARTICIPATION IN IIMUN

50 students participated in an interschool competition hosted by DPS at Vijayawada. They simulated the functioning of Model United Nations. Students debated on Global
issues in different committees of UN as representatives of various countries. Students of Grade 9 Sugun Yadla & Akhil Dandamudi won the Gold Medal followed by N.K.V.Siddardha Reddy of Grade 8 winning the Bronze Medal. The school won the overall Trophy for Best Delegation.

REPUBLIC DAY CELEBRATIONS

On January 26 the school celebrated the Republic Day. This included Flat Hoisting, Cultural Events & Distribution of Prizes for different sports events. The event was presided by Chief Guest Prof. M.C.Das.



PERSONALITY PORTRAYING COMPETITION

There was an inter-house personality portraying competition held on January 26. Students represented global personalities and gave out the views on different personalities. Relating to topics like struggle for independence and love of the motherland.
